Internationally Acclaimed Keynote Speaker
What does the Organization of Virginia Homeschoolers have in common with The Today Show, CNN, Mothering Magazine and The New York Times?

Dr. Thomas Armstrong! This award winner speaker and author of 13 books will be the keynote speaker at VaHomeschoolers' 2007 Conference and Curriculum Fair. His presentation will be on Awakening the Genius in Every Child: Discovering and Reviving the Natural Motivation that Exists in All Children at Birth.

There are over a million copies of Dr. Armstrong's books in print and they have been translated into twenty-one languages. Many of his books are popular with homeschoolers, including In Their Own Way and You're Smarter Than You Think You Are in which Dr. Armstrong uses his collective knowledge and experience with human development to advance an understanding of how children learn through multiple intelligences.

He has written for over thirty publications including Ladies Home Journal, Family Circle, Parenting, and Mothering. He has appeared on The Today Show, CNN, the BBC. Articles featuring his work have appeared in hundreds of newspapers such as The New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, and Good Housekeeping.

Exciting Sessions and Family Fun
This years' event offers something for everyone! The VaHomeschoolers' Conference offers activities and sessions for every stage and age of homeschooling - teens, tweens and toddlers. Presenters will speak on a wealth of topics, with sessions on international travel, creative writing, college transcripts, screen time, and engineering!

You'll find numerous sessions that explore multiple approaches to homeschooling, such as Charlotte Mason, Waldorf, and Unit Studies. Dads will appreciate How Father Figures, a roundtable discussion designed just for them. We're also offering several sessions on Beginning Homeschooling, where experienced homeschoolers will present information to help answer your questions.

You'll enjoy our special programming designed for the entire family! Come join us Friday evening at the Tropical Treats Talent Show and Ice Cream Social. On Saturday you'll want to check out STOMP World Rhythms, an interactive music program, and also our special International Dance Demonstration.

Throughout the day children and teens can travel around the world with our Passport Adventure program where they will learn about various countries while engaging in fun activities. After lunch be sure to catch The Barefoot Puppet Theater as they bring two traditional West African tales to life. And don't forget that your family can explore the hands-on fun of the Science Museum all day - free admission is included with registration!
