I ran across this story at Jason's blog today. This is William Kamkwamba's blog that tells the story about building his windmill. (He's 19 now.) William had to drop out of school due to lack of funds and instead turned to reading whatever books he could get. The books included some on electricity and power generating, and he just kept going. Great story!
