Guitar at CHEC

Emily really loved her 8 weeks of guitar classes at the Community Homeschool Enrichment Center. They ended on the 6th, but almost all of the kids in the two sessions are planning to continue with the weekly lessons when CHEC classes start again in January.

The instructor, Matty Metcalfe, offered to hold 4 more sessions with the kids between now and January, through the CHEC. Emily was really glad to keep going with lessons and her first one was last Friday. There's one more scheduled for November and then two in December.

Emily plays the guitar quite often, and will be performing a song or two (with a couple other kids from the guitar class) at an upcoming Christmas musical she's involved in. The musical is lead by a local homeschooling mom who used to be a school music (and maybe band?) instructor. She's put together a really great program, based on Twas the Night Before Christmas. Some lines will be narrated from the poem, then there will be a song by the group along with some dancing, then another few lines, and repeat the whole process. The kids will be in different costumes depending on their roles. The performance takes place on December 11th, with another one to be done at a local assisted living facility on the 20th.
