Pirate Party

One of Eddie's cousins turned 25 recently, and wanted to have a family-friendly birthday party so the younger kids would have fun, too. Her mom and some friends concocted this costumed Pirate Party for her, complete with treasure hunt.

Emily is ready!

Moi--I wore this dress in a wedding about 10 yrs ago, but I did upgrade with belt and the sword at my side, and a gold-colored, fir-trimmed cloak. :) And a knife in my boot.

Eddie's cousin Dawn in pink, Emily in green cloak, birthday girl Julia in black, behind everyone, and Eddie--yes, just arrived from hunting, hence no costume.

Emily and Thomas's Great-Aunt Tara, and Grandma Leah (pardon the reaching arm)

Eddie's brother Mike--as the Dread Pirate Roberts

Eddie's brother Donnie

Part of the fun was that nobody was allowed to say the "P" word--pirate--or they'd lose a "jeweled" string of pirate booty they could clip on. The jewels reminded me of Capt Jack Sparrow and all the things he wore in his hair.

If you made someone say "pirate," you got their string of jewels. Whoever had the most at the end would win something. I did end up with my original and one other. Emily, however, won the contest with five. Her cousin Jack had her on the run for quite a while--he paid Eddie $6 for his string of jewels!
